“You’re not going to give me a MeToo”, the actor accused by 9 women of sexist and sexual violence

In the middle of the Mazan trial and a few days after demonstrations across France for Women's Rights Day, a new French personality is the subject of accusations, while a case is underway concerning the singer Slimane. This Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the magazine Political published an investigation targeting actor Gérard Darmonknown for his roles in The hearts of men, Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra or The City of Fear.

In total, nine women testify and accuse the actor of sexist and sexual violence. The facts date back the most to 2018 and the most recent to the summer of 2024. Their profiles are those of precarious workers in the cinema sector: technicians, hairdressers, makeup artists, dressers… Positions that they say “interchangeable”, compared to “the impunity granted to the artist”, to his “all power”.

Gérard Darmon accused of sexist violence

Gérard Darmon began his career in cinema in the 1960s. He has made more than 80 films, 20 television films, numerous plays, and he participates in many television shows each year. According to the technician, then in training, the actor said to her: “We can make love, you can come to my house” after refusing a hot drink she offered him. She would then have refused his proposal, “distraught”, and would have repeated “insistently that she is not interested”. But he would not have taken this distancing into account. Another woman, first assistant director, says that the artist would have put my hand between her thighs and said hello as she sat cross-legged. He would have told her: “It's okay, you're not going to give me a MeToo”. She reportedly filed a complaint against the production for “lack of protection”.

Contacted by Political, Gérard Darmon denied being the author of inappropriate gestures or comments. He would even havequickly diverted his remarks into the realm of insult and threat”. The magazine then sent a list of questions by email and message, “to which he did not respond”. In December 2023, he signed the column in support of Gérard Depardieu published in Le Figaro.
