Queen Sofia honored with honorary degree from CEU San Pablo University
Queen Sofia of Spain, 86, visited the Montepríncipe Campus of the CEU San Pablo University, in Alcorcón in the Madrid community, to receive her new honorary diploma. The president of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, Benigno Pendás, agreed to be the godfather of this exceptional ceremony.

CEU San Pablo University is a private, Catholic higher education institution. Its grand chancellor, Alfonso Bullón de Mendoza, is also the president of the Catholic Association of Propagandists. The leaders of the establishment and the association were present during this graduation ceremony. Queen Sofia donned the pale blue cape over her toga and received the graduate regalia of white gloves, a medal, headgear, a ring and a book. Queen Sofia took her oath to formalize her recognition as a doctor at the university.

Queen Sofia thus joins the long list of honorary doctors from this university, including Helmut Kohl, Mario Mont, José Antonio Escudero and Herman Van Rompuy. Queen Sofia is also extending the list of her diplomas. She already held an honorary degree from the universities of Rosario in Bogotá in Colombia, Valladolid, Cambridge, Oxford, Georgetown, Évora, New York and even Seisen in Tokyo.
