Khalid denies ex's accusations of pink cocaine use and sexual abuse

Accused by his former companion of consuming pink cocaine, resorting to commercial sex and violent behavior, singer Khalid categorically denied these allegations.

Scathing statements. Singer-songwriter Khalid, famous pour titles tels que «Location» ou «Young, Dumb & Broke»responded to accusations from her ex-boyfriend, artist Hugo Almonte, who allegedly publicly revealed his homosexuality last week.

In a video posted to I know I don't have to. But I think it’s important that I give my version of the situation.” “I have never done cocaine in my life. I don't put myself in these situations. I'm not in that kind of environment. I smoke weed. And I drink a little. But I've never done cocaine in my life. For real,” he wrote.

The statement refers to a post from his ex-partner, who suggested that a gay R&B singer had supplied him with the drug, a mixture of hallucinogenic substances. The substance has recently been highlighted in the deaths of public figures like Liam Payne and Matthew Perry. Khalid, whose real name is Khalid Donnel Robinson, later denied engaging in paid sex. “I have never paid for sex in my entire life. Never. I've never paid anyone to go out with me. I have never paid anyone to have a relationship with me. He denied having publicly accused his ex or anyone else of a burglary at his home, stressing that only those close to him were informed of the incident.

During the video, the artist revealed having been in a relationship with Hugo Almonte “four or five years ago”, expressing his surprise at these accusations after years of no contact. “I don’t know why he did that. I don't know what's happening to him. Mental health is real. I haven’t even had a conversation with this guy or seen him in four years,” he said.

“Outed” against his will

Addressing the allegations of abusive behavior, Khalid was particularly affected, saying: “It's a little shocking to see the few comments – not that it's a recurring narrative or anything like that – but it's shocking to see the few comments from people that paint me as if I'm just a manipulative abuser. It's just crazy. As far as the abuse stories go, it's shocking,” the singer explained. Khalid concluded by reminding that the controversy has no influence on his musical projects. “I’m happy where I am. I don't need a publicity stunt to get attention. It’s not my thing,” he said.

His explanatory video comes after a series of publications from his former partner on Friday, November 22, who had publicly revealed his homosexuality. “I have been exposed and the world continues to turn. Let's be clear (lol) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it’s nobody’s business! But I feel good about myself, I love you all,” Khalid replied.

For his part, Hugo Almonte explained in a press release to Vulture magazine that his “intention was never to denounce someone who has already clearly manifested himself in the Los Angeles community (…) My intention [était] to share my story and tell how he tried to use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship, he was afraid of what I might say.

Khalid rose to prominence in 2016 with his debut single “Location.” His debut album, “American Teen,” released in 2017, was certified platinum.
