Sarah Ferguson has honoured the memory of the late Princess Diana on what would have been her 63rd birthday on July 1 by sharing a message on social media.

Still fresh in people’s minds. On what would have been the late Princess Diana’s 63rd birthday, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, paid tribute to her on social media on July 1.

“Happy birthday to my dear friend, Diana. You were a pillar of light and love. And what a legacy you left behind. I will always remember our laughter and the spirit of kinship and kindness I found in you. I am sure you are always watching over us. Rest in peace, my friend,” the Duke of York’s wife wrote in the caption of a photo of them standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace watching the Battle of Britain commemorative parade on September 15, 1990.

“We had an amazing time together”

“Lady Di” and “Fergie” became sisters-in-law after their respective marriages to the future King Charles and Prince Andrew, but they had been close friends since they were teenagers. “We were best friends since she was 14 and I was 15. She taught me a lot about public life. She was so brave. We had an incredible time together,” the duchess revealed in a 2021 interview with People.

Additionally, Sarah Ferguson pointed out that it was Diana who introduced her to Prince Andrew, whom she later married in 1986, saying: “I said to her, ‘Oh, Andrew is really handsome,’ and she said, ‘Duh, Fergs!'” However, ten years later, the couple divorced, but remained friends and share two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

The Duchess of York said during a 2023 appearance on “Good Morning America” that Princess Diana would be “very proud” of her five grandchildren and her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
