“We got lost”: Inès Reg opens up about her divorce from Kévin Debonne

In Shera’s podcast “Bip Sonore” broadcast on June 30, she looks back on this unexpected separation after five years of marriage.

A relationship that has evolved over time

Inès Reg, who is going through complicated times in her career at the moment, explains how their relationship has changed over the years: “We toured for three years, he was my opening act, we were together 24/7 and so we were friends, colleagues, lovers, we were together everything and all the time.”

The comedian continues: “Except that as time goes on, you see, you have several hats like lover, producer… And at a certain point, there are hats that you no longer wear because it’s not very fashionable, you keep your own hat. He was my buddy, you know.”

A painful but necessary awareness

This development led Inès Reg to an awareness: “He was my crazy friend and sometimes he was even my colleague. So it was getting complicated. I didn’t want us to continue, since I love him madly and he was my best friend, I was like: ‘Look at us, actually. We’re friends, we’re not lovers anymore. We lost each other on things and it’s not serious’.”

Despite the pain, the couple managed to have a peaceful discussion: “It wasn’t done in pain, it wasn’t done in screams. In pain, a little, in truth, we cried but we managed to talk. I was the first to be surprised by how it happened. I remember us talking very calmly. And it ends where we hug each other and cry together.”

A divorce experienced peacefully

Contrary to what one might think, Inès Reg approaches her divorce with serenity: “I got divorced and I know that shocks a lot of people but I’m really comfortable with it. I don’t really take it as a failure, I’m happy.”

The couple has even managed to stay on good terms, continuing to work together on projects like the film “The Infallibles,” released June 20 on Prime Video.

Kévin Debonne also supported his ex during his troubles with Natasha St-Pier in Dance with the stars.
