In April 2023, the 56-year-old actor underwent a mysterious operation. While he had never previously given details about the procedure, he opened up about his health for the first time to fans in Phoenix.

On April 11, 2023, Jamie Foxx abruptly left the set of his latest film for “medical reasons,” his family said in a statement. Three months later, he reassured his fans himself, specifying that he was “neither blinded nor paralyzed.” But since then, the 54-year-old actor has never given more details about this mysterious intervention.

But a year later, Katie Holmes’ ex has opened up to fans about his health at the time. In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the actor is seen chatting with a group of fans in Phoenix, US, telling them that his health issues started with a “headache”. “I asked my boy for an Advil. I was gone for 20 days,” he continued.

“I don’t remember anything: my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor in Atlanta, they gave me a cortisone shot. The next doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there,’ and gestured to his head,” he added, telling his visibly hilarious audience that he didn’t want to talk about it on camera.

“I went to hell”

Looking back on his surgery, the actor said he had “gone through hell” and come back. “I went through something I never thought I would go through. I know a lot of people were waiting or wanted to hear an update, but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me as that man,” he admitted vulnerably.

But the actor now seems ready to open up about the subject. In March 2024, he declared on stage that he wanted to do it in a “funny way.” “We’re going to be on stage. We’re going to go back to the roots of stand-up,” he concluded. When will the one-man show be?
