Suffering from Parkinson’s disease for more than ten years, the former iconic presenter of France 3 died on Sunday June 30 at the age of 76, according to The Parisian.

It is a television man who has passed away. Jean-Pierre Descombes was one of the faces and one of the emblematic voices of French television in the 1980s and 1990s. Suffering from Parkinson’s disease, which he revealed in 2021, Jean-Pierre Descombes passed away on Sunday, June 30, as announced by his son. He was 76 years old, according to The Parisian.

He was notably the presenter of the “Jeux de 20 heures”, which he hosted from 1976 to 1987. There, he was responsible for asking general knowledge questions to the public, microphone in hand, from a duplex in a provincial town. The show was co-hosted on set by Maurice Favières, Marc Menant and Jean-Pierre Foucault, accompanied by Maître Capello as referee. A characteristic personality of the show, he was also a voice-over, notably for the shows “Le juste prix” or “Une famille en or”, broadcast on TF1.

A reconversion in galas

Despite some occasional participations in recent years in Cyril Hanouna’s shows, notably “Touche pas à mon poste!” or “La grosse rigolade”, Jean-Pierre Descombes had moved away from television sets, without completely abandoning his role as host. He had in fact retrained in hosting galas and events, notably the “Âge tendre et tête de bois” tour in 2012.

Suffering from Parkinson’s disease, a neurodegenerative disease, he spoke about his fight on the set of Jordan Deluxe, on C8: “For 10 years I tried to hide this problem and then it accelerated every day“, he had said.Don’t let yourself be pushed around, the best medicine is in the head!” he concluded.
