The ax has fallen. On November 20, at the end of a long day of hearing, Pierre Palmade was sentenced to five years in prison, including two years, by the Melun criminal court (Seine-et-Marne).
The comedian was found guilty of “unintentional injuries” inflicted during the road accident he caused on February 10, 2023 in Villiers-en-Bière. Under the influence of drugs, he seriously injured a man, his 6-year-old son and a young pregnant woman, causing the loss of her baby.
Guest on the set of Facing Hanouna this Sunday, November 24, Claude Fournier, historical producer of the comedian, reacted to this condemnation. “I am divided but at the same time, for me, it's not harsh enough, he said. I find that justice, in many areas, is not severe enough. That being said, the fact that he is the only one, in all the cases that I have looked at – almost 3000 in 3 years –, to go to prison despite the appeal he could make, I find it disgusting. He should be treated like everyone else.”
“I don’t know how he’ll cope.”
When announcing the verdict, the Melun court in fact attached Palmade's sentence to a “deferred committal warrant with provisional execution”.
The comedian will therefore be incarcerated even if he appeals, pending his new trial.
Faced with this announcement, Fournier does not hide his concern.
“He’s fragile, huh. We don't do drugs if we're not fragile.” he declared on the C8 set. According to him, prison could do a lot of harm to his former colleague, who is in the midst of withdrawal. “I don't know how he will cope… it will be painful. I hope he will be supervised and supervised,” he added.
Pierre Palmade did not expect to go to prison
Prison should upset Pierre Palmade all the more as he did not expect to be incarcerated.
“According to what Jean-Marie Bigard told us last week, he expected to have a bracelet,” explains Claude Fournier.
It must be said that prison sentences are rare in cases of traffic offenses. “There were 867 traffic offenses like Pierre in 2021, and only 8.9% of people were incarcerated for two to three months, underlines Fournier. And not all those who appealed left immediately, so he pay too (the fact of calling, editor's note) 'Palmade'”. For now, Pierre Palmade has not announced his decision to appeal.
