The bad news continues for Brad Pitt and George Clooney, whose recent collaboration should have seen a sequel. Unfortunately, both stars are facing a tough blow.
There will be no Wolf's 2. Three months after Apple TV+ struck a deal with director Jon Watts to develop a sequel to his film Wolfs, worn by George Clooney and Brad Pitt, plans for this sequel were interrupted, according to the American site Variety. It was Jon Watts who seemed to have opposed it, explaining that he no longer had confidence in Apple TV+. “The truth is Apple didn't cancel the Wolfs sequel, I did, because I no longer trusted them as a creative partner”said the director. He notably denounced the last minute change “moving from the promised theatrical release to a streaming release. I didn't even know about it until the week before their global announcement.” Jon Watts therefore decided to return the money he had already received to write the sequel to Wolfs. The latter also declared, while promoting his new Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew : “I don’t think there will be a sequel to Wolfs”.
Wolfs : a mixed success for the film which marks the reunion of George Clooney and Brad Pitt
This turnaround represents a definite blow to Apple TV+, which had boasted that Wolfs is the most viewed feature film in the history of the streaming platform, just one week after its release. But the film did not have the expected success. On the American review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film obtains a rather average score of 67%. If critics praise George Clooney and Brad Pitt, they regret the poverty of the plot and an excessive reliance on stars. Despite its high-profile cast and high production budget ($200 million), the film failed to achieve the success on which the streaming platform had counted.
Wolfs : no sequel for the action comedy with George Clooney and Brad Pitt
Wolfs is an action black comedy in which George Clooney plays a professional tasked with cleaning up a high-profile crime scene, when a second cleaner, played by Brad Pitt, arrives. The two men, used to working alone, find themselves forced to team up and embark on a hellish night where nothing goes as planned. The ending opened the door to a sequel but, barring a new twist, that will not be the case…
