The former head of state recently played the interview game as part of Guillaume Pley's podcast. And notably made confidences about his role as a father.

Nicolas Sarkozy recently participated in the “Legend” podcast by host Guillaume Pley. A long interview broadcast on November 17, during which the former President of the Republic spoke about the difficult exercise of the presidency, but also about his relationship with Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and his role as a father.

The former head of state notably confided that he had “worn knees, since the birth of [sa] daughter (Giulia, Editor’s note.)”, specifying that she was “very important” to him, in the same way as his other children. Aged 12, the little girl, who has recently been speaking openly on social networks, also took part in the podcast, to the surprise of her father.

“She has the authority of her mother”

“Hello Dad, are you okay? I would like to ask you a quick question for your podcast,” she began, before continuing: “I would like to know who is your favorite child? Well honestly, I think I know the answer.” A question that amused the 69-year-old politician. “She has the authority of her mother,” he first joked. “It’s a big ask but I don’t have a favorite child. I love my children naturally. We're very close, actually. They face the same difficulty: they have a name, they have to use the first name.” Because the former mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine is also the father of Louis (27 years old) born from his story with Cécilia Attias; as well as Jean (38 years old) and Pierre (39 years old), whom he had with Marie-Dominique Culioli.

“My mother saw Giulia before me”

Nicolas Sarkozy, however, did not hesitate to return to the circumstances of the birth of his only daughter, “a miracle”, according to him. “We are in the middle of the electoral campaign, I was attacked from all sides, everyone thought I was going to be beaten… It was like an airlock,” he admits, referring to his wife's pregnancy. At the time of the birth, the man who was still President of the French Republic was traveling to Frankfurt with his counterpart Angela Merkel when he received the call announcing that he had just had a daughter. “I leave the meeting, jump on the plane and arrive at the clinic around 10:00 p.m., 10:30 p.m.,” he recalls. And to specify: “My mother saw Giulia before me”.
