POLITICS – A French icon of international music, a highly sensitive subject, the intervention of the Presidency of the Republic… The confidence made by DJ Snake during a live on the Twitch channel of the streamer Naskid on Tuesday November 19 had everything to become viral on social networks. Which was not lacking, given the numerous extracts from this passage shared this Wednesday on X, and which are beginning to find a political echo.
During this broadcast, the Franco-Algerian artist repeats his commitment to the cause of the Palestinian people and regrets that it is up to him, a simple music producer, to carry the voice of the civilian victims of the conflict. “ I'm just a DJ. Normally it's not my job to call Emmanuel Macron on Twitter, and find myself in hot water, and the Élysée calls my management saying “yeah… can he delete the tweet” », testifies the musician, in this sequence viewed nearly 500,000 times in half a day, and crossed out with the following message: “ Macron asked DJ Snake to delete his posts on Palestine ».
The producer was referring to a message published in May, when he commented on a tweet in which the head of state was outraged by Israeli strikes in Rafah, committed outside international law and causing numerous civilian victims. “ How many civilians and children died in the genocide? », reacted DJ Snake, in a tweet which is still visible today.

Political turning point
Near the HuffPost this Wednesday, the Élysée does not deny contacts between the presidency and the entourage of the artist, who had accompanied Emmanuel Macron during his visit to Algeria in August 2022. However, “ there was no request to delete any posts »assures the entourage of the Head of State.
However, in the meantime, this sequence has taken a political turn. LFI MP for Essonne, Antoine Léaument accuses the tenant of the executive of having wanted to silence the artist. “ Scandal! Macron reportedly pressured DJ Snake to remove his posts in support of Palestine. DJ Snake refused, bravo to him! Freedom of expression cannot be negotiated. It is a moral duty in the face of the genocide that Netanyahu is committing », Commented the rebellious elected official.
In June, the world-renowned artist signed a column with (very) many personalities (ranging from Renaud to Lena Situation, including Leïla Bekhti and Gaël Faye) calling on France to recognize the State of Palestine.
