EXCLUSIVE MAINTENANCE – The actress joins the universe of the creator of Yellowstone et Tulsa King for a series to be discovered on Paramount + on November 18. Enthusiastic confessions to Figaro TVMagazine.

Demi Moore is making a comeback. Boldly, as proven in the cinema The Substance , horror film by French director Coralie Fargeat, screenplay prize at the festival, currently in theaters, in which she plays with her image. And with humility, as demonstrated, LandmanNovember 18 on Paramount+ (read review below). After having been in the credits in particular of the series Empire et Feud, she integrates the universe of Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Tulsa King…) through the little door.

It's Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo) who plays the title role, that of the landman, an agent in the oil business in Texas, negotiating land rights and leases with owners, managing teams, ensuring their security, for the benefit of financial giants. Demi plays the wife of the billionaire who employs her (Jon Hamm – Mad Men). A couple that is still secondary in the story but which, she hopes, has many surprises in store. Brief and enthusiastic meeting with the Figaro Magazine during the presentation of the series in London on November 8.

LE FIGARO TVMAGAZINE.- It seems that you have signed for several seasons of Landman without even having read the script?

Demi MOORE.- Quite ! I have long delved deeply into the work of Taylor Sheridan. I really love the world he created, and even though I didn't know what I was getting into, I wanted to step into it. Whatever direction it would take. Taylor always points out some moral ambiguity, especially with the female characters, it's something I've never seen before. It's quite exciting. This is why I directly agreed to work with him. Of course, signing without having read anything is a little scary but it's also fun and exciting.

What appeals to you about Taylor Sheridan's work?

It's interesting to see how Taylor seeks to create not a season but a universe. And it's exciting to be transported into a world, that of the Texas oil business, that most of us know nothing about. To lay its foundations. It's just a human story, about people looking for a place to belong, trying to find love, trying to heal. In this process there can be an addiction to success, explosions, violence, sex. A bit of everything! The first scene with Billy is incredible. When he says ” this fucking job “, I thought: ” OK, I'll be part of it ! »

“Taylor Sheridan likes to preserve an element of mystery”

What can you tell us about your character, Cami?

Reading the project, I found it fascinating but I didn't have much to play with. Taylor asked me to trust him. It's very new for me, a different way of approaching a character, of having the opportunity to explore it and build it over time. Even if we have the illusion that the oil industry is a man's world, the series shows that women have an important role there too. Cami is complex, powerful, calm and vulnerable at the same time. She is very involved in her husband's life. The couple built their empire and their fortune together. They are a couple who love each other but also a real partnership. Cami is very respectful towards her husband, gentle, obedient. Until now… Taylor likes to preserve an element of mystery. I don't know where he's going to take my character but I'm ready!
