Things weren't always good between David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson at the time of filming X-Files. Having recently invited his former sidekick to his podcast Fail Betterthe actor admitted that they failed to build a real friendship.

“There was a long period during the filming of the series where we didn't even speak to each other off set,” David Duchovny recalled. There was a lot of tension. Which apparently didn't matter for work because we're both crazy, I guess. »

A unique experience

“It’s pretty crazy,” Gillian Anderson confirmed. “I mean, it's crazy that we were able to display feelings and emotions and attraction on screen when we didn't speak for weeks. » Looking back, David Duchovny explains this situation by their inexperience in the face of the phenomenal success of the series.

“I was quite inexperienced. You were really inexperienced. And all of a sudden… It became a global phenomenon even before the arrival of the Internet. We were just trying to figure out who we were. » Fortunately, despite these tensions, the two actors were able to become friends. “When you share such a seminal experience in your life, we know what it’s like to have been at the center of it all,” concluded the actor.
