Montauban. Phil Fasan presents his twelfth album, “Route 60”

For five months, Phil Fasan has entered “Sexagenia”. No mistake: he only celebrated 60 candles on June 14, and the very young sixty-year-old chose a nod to the famous Route 66 (USA) to title his new album “Route 60” which he presents to the readers of La Dépêche before singing it yesterday Friday November 15 during an evening at the Brasserie de la Halle.

“I wanted, while retaining rock and country colors, to put my voice on songs that I have always loved. Walt Disney said that you can't do better by doing the same thing again. There, it's 180° “Moon River” by Audrey Hepburn, “Smile” by Chaplin, “Over the rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz, as well as Louis Armstrong… And always Lennon, Elvis, the Eagles… My friend Franck Claret shares. “Mrs Robinson” with me.

And this beautiful female voice in duet?

My daughter Lou, I love her. She doesn't go into vocal performances – Celine Dion and Whitney Houston already exist – but she is quite incredible in accuracy and sweetness.

Loyalty to “your” musicians to accompany you?

I have the pleasure of having Mr. Paul Capdevielle (Sentimental Trumpet) on brass. He is very happy to play on my album, and I am very proud! Gilles Lacoste is still at the helm and plays a few instruments on this record. Some are no longer there… I too am getting older. With the title of this album, Route 60, an allusion to the American West Road, I wanted to mark my entry into the age-old era! (laughs) I made my first record in 1992 with people who accompanied Dutronc, C. Jérôme, Cabrel. They were enjoying the dynamic little young man who sang quite well, and I didn't understand how they could be interested in me (laughs again).

Still the same desire?

Intact. Whether I'm playing in front of 2,000 people at a country festival or for 18 people at a pizzeria, I give my best. My parents also passed on this respect from the public to me.

You offer a materialized CD, why?

I like buying a CD, opening it, reading the texts, looking at the photos. Everything is dematerialized today, but I struggle desperately. Did you know that you can visit the Louvre from your kitchen? It's cool, and it's terrible.

Why did you choose Brasserie de la Halle to present your brand new album?

At Fred and his team, they are adorable and the place is great. We're going to have another great party. They have great beer; I will bring fishing!
