BOXING – The influencer with millions of subscribers managed to get Mike Tyson back into the ring. The American Jake Paul, brother of content creator Logan Paul, will face the boxing legend on the night of Friday November 15 to Saturday November 16 in Texas. Even before the fight, he does not hesitate to put on a show on social networks. And don't skimp on the « trash-talking », verbal provocation.
As you can see in our video at the top of the article, Jake Paul, 27, shares videos of his workouts on Instagram. We see him doing « sparring » (training fights) or even bodybuilding and endurance exercises. He often accompanies his publications with a barely hidden insinuation that he is going to knock out his opponent. “Only 13 more days until I adjust Mike's sleep schedule”can we read for example in the description of a video.
For his part, Mike Tyson does not seem impressed. In the Netflix documentary series titled Countdown: Jake Paul vs. Mike Tysonin which we follow the preparations of the two boxers, the 58-year-old former sportsman says what he thinks of Jake Paul. “There is a fundamental difference between us. He is a murderer fabricated by the media. Me, I'm a born killer”he said, looking at the camera.
Live on Netflix
It is no coincidence that this documentary series is online on Netflix. Indeed, the streaming platform takes care of the live broadcast of the event. In France, you will have to wait until 2 a.m. on the night of Friday to Saturday to see their fight.
Before the social network Vine shut down in 2015, Jake Paul was one of the platform's best-known creators. Since then, he has continued to be present on the Internet and has garnered more than 27 million subscribers on Instagram. In 2020, he took up professional boxing and had nine wins and one loss.
As for Mike Tyson, he has accumulated 50 victories (including 44 by KO) for six defeats throughout his career. A former heavyweight champion of the world, “Iron Mike” retired in 2005 and has only competed in exhibition matches since. He therefore returns to the ring professionally, 19 years later.
