The most beautiful to go dancing is preparing to bid farewell to the public… Discovered in the 1960s, Sylvie Vartan will take the stage of the Dôme de Paris and the Palais des Congrès one last time to give the final six concerts of her career. At the start of 2024, Johnny Hallyday's ex-wife announced her latest tour, entitled I bow out. At 80 years old, she reveals the reason why she is putting an end to her long and successful career, in an interview given to l'AFP and relayed by Le Figaro.

Sylvie Vartan left her mark on French song with her flagship titles Listening to the rain or All my friends. After sixty years of successful career, the mother of David Hallyday and Darina Scotti-Vartan is preparing to give her last concerts. The singer told AFP: “I have lived on a volcano since I started, 63 years ago. I’ve done so much that, at some point, you have to calm down a little.” At the age of 80, it is time for the artist to leave the stage, as she confides: “It's time. I can't continue at this crazy pace, even if I feel the same enthusiasm. I'm starting to get tired”, she testifies, before adding: “Monster time differences are good when you're 20… I want to offer decent things, in the color I like and in the way I like. I definitely don't want to drag myself on stage! “.

For her last tour, Sylvie Vartan intends to do things in a big way. In the same interview given to AFP, she reveals more about her last six concerts: “It's going to be like a musical comedy with the magical moments of my career which has been quite romantic. Everything I shared with the public from the age of 17 with the song Panne d'essence in a duet with Frankie Jordan. The singer also promises exceptional guests at her side, including her son: “I want it to remain a surprise but there will obviously be at least David, with an orchestra of around fifteen musicians, my backup singers and my dancers.” If she makes a point of maintaining the mystery around her guests, Tony Scotti's wife, on the other hand, revealed that one of her friends would not be present on stage. Michel Sardou refused to sing his title The Balkans and Provence : “I wanted him to come sing with me but he refused. He exaggerates, especially since our song is very pretty. But I wasn't going to harass him“, declared the singer to the newspaper Le Point.
