Jamel Debbouze entered our lives many years ago. It started with small humorous spots on Canal Plus before gaining more and more importance over time. Having become the reference for humor in France, he always wanted to break the shackles and not deny himself anything. This is how he went from being a comedian to becoming an actor, then a successful producer.
His first dreams, however, always revolved around cinema. It was the 7th Art that gave him the true recognition of his peers. He is not one of those actors who makes 5 or 6 films a year. He is very careful to only work on projects that are close to his heart.. This is why each new film with him is a mini-event in itself. We will also be able to discover him very soon in a role that is completely contrary to what he usually does.
Jamel Debbouze has always been a great Football fan. He grew up with Nicolas Anelka, and never hid his limitless admiration for Zinédine Zidane. His son Léon also joined the PSG youth teams. Football is therefore an important subject in the Debbouze family. This is why seeing him play the role of a football player's agent is not that surprising.
The actor will indeed be appearing in Market. A thriller that already makes our mouths water when we read the few lines written by the Pathé group on its Instagram account. A short synopsis to promote this next feature film. “This film takes us deep behind the scenes of today’s football, a global industry where billions are at stake. Driss, a drifting player agent, has seven days to save his skin before the end of the transfer window…
Mercato in theaters next February
Market is therefore Tristan Séguéla's last film. It will bring together an XXL cast around Jamel Debbouze. It is in fact actors like Monia Chokri, Hakim Jemili, Milo Machado-Graner, Vincent Rottiers, Stéphane Bak, Birane Ba and Marie Papillon who will give the answer to the most famous troublemaker of French cinema. A role that seems quite dark and therefore the opposite of the usual roles of the native of Trappes.
Producer Alain Goldman, a former Red Star player, explained why he wanted to get involved in this project. “I wanted to support this project, because given what has already been done, he offered something different by taking an interest in the backstage. The public is always curious about what happens behind the scenes, because they are closed to them. And ultimately there are few places where you can really immerse yourself in it”. A film to be discovered in theaters on February 19.
