This October 31, during a rally for the Democratic candidate in Nevada, Jennifer Lopez took the stage to defend her rights and those of all Latinos, insulted during a recent Donald Trump meeting.

During Kamala Harris' last campaign rally in Las Vegas, Jennifer Lopez took the floor to express her indignation. The singer referenced insulting remarks made at a recent Donald Trump rally about Puerto Rico, where comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called the country a “floating island of garbage.” In a speech full of passion, Ben Affleck's ex-wife, herself from a Puerto Rican family, let her voice and her emotion be heard. “It wasn’t just Puerto Ricans who were offended that day. Every Latino in this country has been. It is humanity and every person of good morals who have been offended,” she expressed.

Denouncing persistent inequalities and the consequences of the actions of the former president and leader of the Republicans on marginalized communities, she continued: “We saw a man in power who tried to divide us and stigmatize our families. We cannot stand idly by while he continues to destroy what we have built.” And to continue: “I am the daughter of a Puerto Rican father and mother. And yes, I was born here and we are Americans. (…) We can't even spell the word 'American' without 'Rican', it's my country too.

The rights of Latina women

Taking her roots as an example, Jennifer Lopez spoke on behalf of everyone: “I come from a Latino family that always worked hard to achieve their dreams. We are a powerful community, full of passion and resilience. Our families deserve to be respected and protected. » The artist also spoke about the rights of Latina women and all those from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring that Donald Trump's new rise to power would have disastrous consequences: “We cannot let our rights be violated. Latina women must have the right to decide their future.”

To end her speech, Jennifer Lopez returned to the importance of giving the keys to the White House to Kamala Harris, from the Democratic camp. “We need a leader who respects our culture and our heritage, who protects us and who fights for us,” she said. A powerful message and extremely appreciated by the supporters present. The emotion was palpable on Jennifer Lopez's face, before Kamala Harris joined her on stage to take her in her arms. Support for the politician which is now added to that of Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Madonna, LeBron James and many more stars.
