While he pays tribute to his father through his latest album of covers, entitled Requiem pour un fou, David Hallyday covers the cult title dedicated to his sister, Laura. In May 2024, on the set of Clique, on Canal +, David Hallyday remembered how much this song symbolized the distance between his sister and him when she was born: “It's crazy [de reprendre la chanson Laura]because[au moment de l’enregistrement de cette chanson]I was in the United States so I missed a lot of things, confides the singer. When he was born, I wasn't really present.” Then aged 17, David Hallyday lived in Los Angeles with his mother Sylvie Vartan. For her part, Nathalie Baye gave birth to little Laura in the Paris region.
Despite the thousands of kilometers that separated them, David Hallyday and Laura Smet ultimately forged close bonds over the years: “With Laura, we got to know each other along the way because blended families are like that, when you don't live together, you discover the person over time. [reprendre ce titre] echoes in me that period when I was not able to take full advantage of many things”. It is ultimately their artistic fiber which allowed them to form a close-knit brotherhood: “When we practice the same style of profession , we have common points which are installed automatically.
