In the interview granted by the 56-year-old singer to French Vogue, this Thursday, May 23, she claims that she knew directly that something was wrong with her voice. “I had hard to control“, she explains. “I went to see an ENT“, she emphasizes, but nothing was detected at the time.

The Covid pandemic was the trigger that pushed the singer to take a serious look at her health problems. This is how she paused. “I held out as long as possible. I had to stop being brave. I had to take charge of myself“, she confided to Vogue. Various medical examinations made it possible to discover stiff person syndrome, this rare neurological disease at the origin of its muscle spasms and stiffness. “It might sound weird to say that, but I was happy when I was told. I would finally be able to living with this disease and no longer endure it“, she remembers.

Irene Taylor nevertheless affirms that the documentary was made to portray the Celine Dion of today. “The film is intended to show Celine Dion as it is now : in the light of a career of over 40 years“, specifies the Oscar-nominated producer. “I didn’t make a film for his fans, but the documentary is undoubtedly a love letter to them. Her fans are very worried about Céline at the moment. They want to know where she is, but also continue to listen to her and let themselves be touched by her music.
