Her alleged romance with Martin Short, her partner in the series Only Murders in the Building, whose season 4 has been broadcast since August. The rumors continue to be fueled by the outings shared between the two actors. On October 16, they appeared again after a dinner in Santa Monica, California. But are they really together in the city as on screen? We take stock.

In October 2023, Meryl Streep announced that she was separating from her husband Don Gummer (sculptor) after 45 years of marriage. Since then, the love life of the 75-year-old cinema icon has been scrutinized to say the least. No wonder, therefore, that his relationship within the Hollywood series gives ideas to some.

It all started in January, during the 2024 Golden Globes ceremony. The actor duo was then photographed sitting next to each other. Their complicity had been noticed, and the speculative machine was launched. A few months later, in August, the actors were also filmed holding hands during the season 4 premiere of Only Murders in the Building.
Their multiple outings as a couple, to go to dinner or attend Broadway shows, also continue to fuel the rumors. Until recently. On October 17, the American tabloid Page Six wrote: “the two actors were all smiles upon their arrival at the Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica.”
Rumor denied
However, Martin Short has already denied these rumors on several occasions. In an episode of the podcast Club Random with Bill Maher, airing in January 2024, the actor insisted they were “just really close friends.” Last August, at the microphone of the American media EXTRA, he declared about Meryl Streep: “I think that a friendship never stops growing when you work with someone and you love them”. Enough to understand that the duo’s relationship is nothing other than a strong friendly bond.
