It’s been years since Laure Manaudou put away her swimsuit. Olympic champion and multi-world medalist, the sportswoman left the swimming pools in 2009. “It wasn’t a difficult decision to make. It imposed itself on me little by little. It wasn’t a whim, it all matured slowly”she then said to Le Parisien. Since retiring in 2013, Laure Manaudou has not not yet twiddling your thumbs.
And she hasn’t really strayed from the sport. Because it is often in the comments on the France Télévisions antenna that we find it. She notably officiated at the Paris Olympics and had the emotion of commenting on her brother Florent’s beautiful bronze medal. But Laure Manaudou decided to change path. And she turned towards kinesiology. “I have completed my kinesiology training course, I have validated my 600 hours of internship, all I have to do is pass the certification”she announced to

Laure Manaudou: kinesiology responsible for sectarian excesses?
“How to manage in a group, how to help people psychologically is something that fascinates me”assures Laure Manaudou to our colleagues. But this surprising reconversion has caused a lively controversy. The reason? The very essence of kinesiology, a pseudo-science that is not recognized. According to the national union of this practice born in the 1960s in the USA, “Kinesiology is a global human approach. It aims to support everyone towards better balance on the mental, emotional, physical and energetic levels”.
But kinesiology has been singled out by Miviludes, the interministerial mission for vigilance and the fight against sectarian abuses. “A movement born in the wake of the New Age, its followers and sympathizers advocate more or less radical way the break with lifestyle habits
deemed harmful, in favor of natural and authentic choices such as organic food, alternative medicine, non-drug therapies or even ecology.describes this state body on its site.
A tragedy pointed out
According to her, “the radicalization of certain followers of this movement led to excesses of a sectarian nature in which the hygienist dimension raised to the rank of dogma constituted a determining factor.. Miviludes takes as an example the conviction of parents in Quimper in 2005. “In the name of ideological conceptions inherent in the practice of kinesiology and the ‘biological laws’ of Ryke Geerd Hamer, had adopted for themselves and their children the vegan diet in their quest for a purified diet”, can we read.
Due to “this diet is deficient in animal proteins and vitamins” and of “their extreme distrust of a medical world deemed a priori dangerous” led to
“the death of their babywho had been breastfed by his mother since his birth, found himself in a state of major malnutrition.. In June 2023, the order of doctors published an alarmist press release against the potential abuses of several unconventional practices, such as kinesiology.
