It was at the Center Pompidou that King Philippe and Queen Mathilde organized their evening, among the works of the Surrealists. Currently, the Parisian museum is offering the “Surrealism” exhibition, which includes works created as early as 1924 and during the forty years that followed. The surrealist movement began in 1924 with the publication of Manifest founder of André Breton. This year 2024 was therefore dedicated to the centenary of surrealism.

Belgium, often described as the country of surrealism, also holds exhibitions on this artistic movement. It was obvious that the Belgian royal couple would choose this theme to organize their traditional thank-you evening to which Prince Eudes of Orléans was invited with his wife, Princess Marie-Liesse.

Prince Eudes, Duke of Angoulême, is the brother of the Count of Paris, current head of the royal family of France. Prince Eudes and King Philippe are distant cousins, both being descendants of King Louis-Philippe I. The French king was the father of Louise d’Orléans, the wife of King Leopold I, the first king of the Belgians.
