The older I get, the less I plan for myself!” she asks us first. “But, in the short term, what I like now in the character is that the authors have given her colors that I myself, unconsciously, inspired. Everyone knows that I am a great manipulator “, jokes the one who played Armelle Kermabon in Brocéliande alongside Nolwenn Leroy. “I manipulated them without them knowing – if they listen to the podcast, they’re going to be like, ‘ My god, what did she do!?” – and, as a result, the role became much lighter and much funnier. In the future, I think Claire will move more and more towards comedy.“A register that she embraced with enthusiasm, agreeing to reprise the role of Josiane Balasko in her play A big cry of lovewhich she is currently playing on tour with Alexandre Brasseur. But, with eighty-five performances planned throughout , his presence on the set ofHere it all begins will definitely be affected. “I don’t think I’ll have big arches this year, but I’m lucky to be in a choral series, Claire will always be there, of course!”

Catherine Marchal : “Beneath my appearance of ‘I’m always angry…’ I’m a joke!

Thus, Catherine Marchal confides in this interview her love for comedy, despite certain roles which have shaped her image and marked the general public, as in 36 Quai des Orfèvres or Borderlinemade by the father of her children, Olivier Marchal: “Under my guise of “I’m always angry”, I’ve been saying it for a while and I’ve been agitating in this direction!she laughs. “In the theater, I started with the classical repertoire, but very quickly, I worked in café theater. I always had that in me. Afterwards, the fact of having emerged with dramatic roles, it was the image that stuck. But, when I was little, I was a little clown! My parents made me recite poems or jokes that I didn’t always understand, but which made everyone laugh! (…) And, in my room, I listened to Coluche’s sketches on 45s to learn them by heart… ».

The entire interview can be found on the podcast Shadows and Lightsas well as those of Michel Cymes, Olivier Marchal, Audrey Fleurot, Laurent Ournac or Evelyne Dhéliat, among others!
