His voice was tense” sums up Dan Cleary, the technician who takes care of the guitars, about Perry Farrell.

By succeeding in isolating the vocal track, recorded during the concert in Boston where the singer attacked his guitarist Dave Navarro, everything becomes clearer in the sequence which could sound the death knell for Jane’s Addiction (although barely reformed).

What do we hear? Perry Farrell who can’t find his bearings while constantly repeating “Fuck these motherfuckers. Fuck them, fuck them. Fuck him”which needs no translation:

Indeed, the singer seems to be angry with the guitarist because his instrument is covering his voice. Dave Navarro clearly has nothing to do with it since he does not have access to the console and therefore cannot influence the gain of the vocal track.

The sound engineer deliberately lowered the vocal feedback, after judging that it was not up to par, but also to hide the singer’s aggressive remarks towards his guitarist.

Same feedback from the fans present: “It seems like they turned his mic level down a lot because he (Perry Farrell, NdR) was in no condition to sing and that caused him problems afterwards. testifies one of them to the magazine Nme. “It’s disastrous to have fallen so low” » reports the other.

Despite Perry Farrell’s apologies, few are betting on a new reformation of Jane’s Addiction.
