Rumors have been circulating for several weeks about the state of the relationship between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. While the two former members of the royal family appeared closer than ever during their trip to Colombia last August, they continue to appear solo. Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance this weekend at the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital gala, when Prince Harry was seen in New York and England. But the trip that raised the most questions was the one in Lesotho. The country holds a very special place in the heart of King Charles’ son. It was therefore with amazement that the whole world noticed that the actress was not on the trip.
Harry without Meghan for this symbolic trip
Prince Harry discovered Lesotho when he was still very young and developed very close ties with the country’s royal family and its people. He even created an association helping children born with AIDS called Sentebale. It therefore appears that this return to the country after many years covered a symbolic dimension for the father of Archie and Lilibet. Add to that the charitable commitment, it would have been obvious to many that Meghan Markle would join the trip.
Something which according to the sources of royal expert Alison Boshoff of Daily Mail is very strange: “It’s a surprise he went to Lesotho without Meghan. Maybe there’s a good reason she can’t leave the kids, but she’s never been there and it surprises me, it’s like a second home for Harry. He first went there when he was a teenager and the royal family there is like his second family. Harry and Prince Seeiso, the youngest brother of the King of Lesotho with whom he founded the Sentebale association, call themselves brothers.” Despite everything, there would be a well-thought-out reasoning behind the absence of Meghan Markle.
A decision far from trivial
Royal specialist Charlotte Griffiths also underlined GBNews the surprise of this solo visit from Prince Harry. “He hasn’t been to Lesotho for years. And now he’s back. The classic situation would have been for Meghan to come to meet the children there. It’s incredible that she’s not there. But I think it’s deliberate”, she said. This would be a strategy for William’s brother to focus a little more on his image: “I think Harry is trying to remind us that he was the one who started this charity in Africa for children born with AIDS. He wants us to remember who he was before Megxit and before all the stories. I think leaving Meghan out of this trip is possibly something they’ve discussed together, because they don’t want the hysteria that comes when they’re together.”
