Currently in full promotion of the film Lee Miller, Kate Winslet went to the set of C à vous. Faced with a question deemed sexist, the 48-year-old actress did not give in.

She is one of the most iconic actresses of her generation. At 48, Kate Winslet has a string of successes in the cinema. The biggest of them being undoubtedly Titanic where she played Rose DeWitt-Bukater, known as Rose Dawson, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in 1997. Besides, the sultry blonde does not intend to stop there. And for good reason, her fans will very soon be able to find her on the big screen. More precisely in Lee Miller which will be released in cinemas on October 9.

Kate Winslet stars in the film Lee Millersoon in the cinema

This film traces the life of Lee Miller, a former Vogue model who became one of the first women to photograph the Second World War. Determined to reveal the horror of what people experience on a daily basis, she has in fact changed the way we see the world. Unlike other films in which she was able to appear, Kate Winslet doesn’t really appear to her advantage. Marked wrinkles, visible dark circles, we thus discover a woman with few artifices. Which deserves to be underlined, especially since the latter regularly receives criticism about her physique.

A columnist from C à vous discusses the actress’ physique

Who says new film says promotion and Kate Winslet has therefore joined the game. Currently in to talk about Lee Millerthe actress went to the set of C à vous on France 5 this Thursday, October 3. Pierre Lescure, one of the columnists, then took the liberty of asking a very specific question. “To embody this free woman who made fun of the gaze of others, you assume wrinkles, dark circles to show your fatigue, you strip yourself without hiding some curves… This was a deliberate choice, which went against the suggestions of the film crew?”he asked.

Kate Winslet raises her voice and confronts the columnist

Neither one nor two, Kate Winslet responded to Pierre Lescure. “Yes, everything for authenticity! That was who Lee Miller was, she was very free with her body, her loves. And it was my job to be as close as possible to who she was”she initially declared before confronting him about his questioning: “But it’s very interesting that you asked me this question because, forgive me, but Would you ask a man this same question?to an actor?”.

A question that she considers sexist and which she tried to explain on set as follows: “It’s an interesting conversation because many women want to have it, about being truthful, authentic and expressing a positive message. But to me it’s fascinating, because rarely would my male counterparts be asked this question!”estimates the one who previously spoke about the success of Titanic. And to ensure: “It’s a privilege to be able to play a character with so much power. I wanted to do everything I could to really express it as sincerely and as honestly as possible.”. A film that promises to be both moving and exciting to watch next Wednesday at the cinema.
