“I have nothing, nothing, nothing. Not a house, not an apartment”: Patrice Laffont talks about his money problems at 84

In turn host of Numbers and letters, Pyramids, 40 degrees in the shade And Fort Boyard, on France 2, Patrice Laffont left his mark on the French audiovisual landscape, where he was one of the most prominent stars for almost thirty years. Professional success therefore had a positive impact on his portfolio. Problem is, he has always had great difficulty keeping what he earns.

This is what he explained this weekend in an episode of TV, your merciless universe on C8: “I have earned my living very well and I am not complaining about it. But I still have a weird relationship with money, which means I’m terrible at it. I don’t manage. At my age, very advanced, I have nothing, nothing, nothing…I spent my money happily, I didn’t put anything aside and I regret it now. At my very advanced age, I have nothing, nothing, nothing. Not a house, not an apartment. The only thing I have in equity, basically, is my car, and even then, it’s old.”

Patrice Laffont and his “tiny retirement”

Son of the famous publisher Robert Laffont and father of the comedian Axelle Laffont added that he can only blame himself : “I earned my living very well, I’m not complaining about it, but since I was a cicada, well there you go….” He also felt that he was very lucky to have some money: “I didn’t work a lot. I’m not a hard worker. It went smoothly. It’s good.”

Note that this is a subject that he has already addressed several times. Especially against Jordan de Luxe two years ago. “I have a very small pension (3,500 euros per month, editor’s note) and the day I no longer work, I will be in a bit of trouble. And that’s how it is, I’m 82 years old and it doesn’t matter.”, he declared. Comments which had also caused controversy since this remains very good income and he added that he wanted to earn at least 10,000 euros per month to live comfortably.

We then think of the recent declarations of Jean-Marc Sylvestre, again against Jordan de Luxe, who then judged that his 9,000 euros per month pension was insufficient. A media release which also caused a lot of talk…
