Fathers, grandmothers, gods, sisters, sons or cousins, the genealogy of ancient myths is often a very complicated matter for the stage. How can we present hundreds of years of stories haunted by conflicts, the wheel of vengeance, the will of the gods in a few hours? How can we not get lost ourselves or mislead our spectators?
With humor, Jean-François Sivadier might answer. In September 2024, and for a few months, the director returns behind the stage with the play Family Portrait, a History of the Atridesa revisited panorama – as funny as it is tragic – of the myth of the founder of the Atrides. He takes with him 14 of the students of the 2023 class of the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique de Paris, carried by a scenography set up by 4th year students at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs de Paris.
