“Tax the ultra-rich! Finance a fair and green future!” These are the slogans displayed this Monday by Greenpeace activists who blocked access to the Davos heliport. An action which takes place on the opening day of the 55th edition of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

“With this peaceful action, Greenpeace activists demand that the people who contribute the most to the climate and biodiversity crisis finally assume their responsibilities,” the NGO said in a press release. “Air traffic control and the police were informed of the blockage from the start of the action,” she specifies.

Sunday demonstration

Sunday afternoon, the police had to intervene to evacuate hundreds of anti-WEF demonstrators blocking the road in front of Davos, which caused major traffic jams.

More than 60 heads of state and government are expected in the Graubünden resort this week, culminating in Thursday a videoconference intervention by Donald Trump.
