Mice detected at the Bulk Barn in Gatineau: throw away your products, warn the authorities

You should not consume bulk products purchased recently at the Bulk Barn branch on Boulevard de la Gappe in Gatineau, advised the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Quebec (MAPAQ).

These products have not been stored in a manner to ensure their safetyexplained the ministry in a press release, without giving further details.

The products affected by this notice are those which were on sale until January 15.

It should be noted that products sold in the original packaging are not affected by this recall, specifies the MAPAQ.

Signs of mouse activity

The company explained on Friday that it had carried out an inspection following concerns [qui] were brought to [son] attention.

During this inspection, signs of mouse activity were noted and so we made the proactive decision to keep the store closed and undertake a complete renovation […] in order to further strengthen and protect the premisessaid the company in a written response sent at the end of the day.

Bulk Barn Foods Limited specifies that senior management personally visited the targeted establishment on Thursday, in the company of representatives of the owner and pest control professionals.

Discard or return food covered by the notice

Customers who purchased products in bulk must throw them away or return them to the branch Bulk Barn of Hull located on Boulevard du Plateau.

Even if the affected products do not show signs of alteration or suspicious odor, their consumption may pose a health risk, warn the authorities.

The ministry specified that at the time of publication of its note, late Wednesday evening, no cases of illness associated with the consumption of these foods have been reported au MAPAQ.

The neighboring Dollarama store Bulk Barn also confirms having initiated an intervention on its premises due toan infestation at neighboring businesses.

During this intervention, we are only temporarily stopping the sale of our food products intended for human consumption.the company says.
