prices are starting to rise again in , discover the prices

Bad news for motorists. Going to the gas station has become more painful in recent days. The reason: a new increase in the price of fuel, a first in several months.

The price of fuel is increasing, especially diesel

For several months, French motorists have benefited from relative stability in fuel prices. However, this period of respite now seems to be over. Diesel has just reached a notable milestone, reaching 1.7309 euros per literaccording to data published by the Ministry of Energy Transition. This increase marks an important milestone, as it exceeds for the first time since August 2024 the symbolic bar of 1.70 euros.

This surge in prices takes place in a particularly turbulent geopolitical context. Tensions in the Middle East, combined with the war in Ukraine, are disrupting crude oil supply chains. In fact, international prices are soaring. The barrel of Brent, a world benchmark, now exceeds the 80 dollars in London, illustrating the pressure on the markets.

This progression was also amplified by the strategic decision of OPEC+ to extend its production limitations, a choice intended to stabilize prices but which reduces the available supply.
The already fragile global economic situation also plays a role. Fluctuations in the parity between the euro and the dollar further increase the bill for European importers, because oil is traditionally traded in dollars.

Other fuels follow, but at a different pace

If diesel shows a marked increase, the prices of other fuels increase in a more contained manner. Thus, unleaded 98 reaches an average of 1.8761 euros per liter, while unleaded 95 is 1.8167 euros. E10, which remains popular for its generally more affordable cost, now reaches 1.7809 euros per liter. These increases, although lower than that of diesel, weigh on household budgets.

French motorists, particularly those who use diesel vehicles, are bearing the brunt of this price increase. Professionals, such as transporters or craftsmen, are also affected, which could have repercussions on the entire economy. This situation is likely to continue, but the question of discontent at the pump remains.
