OPEL Frontera: 7-seater urban SUV for a controlled budget!

Revealed to the general public in May 2024 in Istanbul, the Frontera appears as an urban adventurer, it claims to offer space for five or even seven people, making it the most interesting 7-seater proposition on the market…

It's the size of the Frontera that catches the eye first. It measures 4m38 long, which is 17cm more than the Crossland it replaces. In the OPEL range, it is therefore positioned between the Mokka (4m15) and the new Grandland (4m65).

In the same line

Visually, we find all the attributes of an SUV…black plastic wheel arches, roof bars, widened rear end which extends to the trunk.

At the front, it is distinguished by the new OPEL emblem and a large “Vizor” grille which incorporates headlights, a bit like the Corsa; At the rear, we find two-stage lights, as well as the model name displayed in full on the tailgate!

Generous on board

Before boarding, we were captivated by these very enveloping seats called “Intelli-seats”; and which are entirely covered in recycled fabric… They are particularly designed to offer the best possible comfort; this is why we find this kind of slit in the middle (which must, among other things, lighten the weight on the spine); once installed, we find this pretty steering wheel with two flats and the “Vizor” pattern in the center!

For the rest, the design is particularly refined! A little dark in our opinion. Good point, however, for the physical keys that OPEL has kept on the steering wheel and on the central console. As for the finish, it is worthy of a German; that is sober and well cared for!

OPEL has optimized the openings. This means that passengers in the rear seats will benefit from plenty of legroom and ample headroom! Precisely thanks to its increased size, the trunk offers a volume of 460 liters, and which can even reach 1,600 liters once the seats are folded.

And facing the driver, two screens of 10 inches each… the 1st for the instrumentation and the 2nd is none other than a touch screen to manage the multimedia, the air conditioning and certain vehicle adjustment parameters. Note that as a base, the Frontera only offers support for smartphones!

Hybrid or Electric

As we expected… OPEL has chosen to skip diesel! Under the hood, it will be a 48-volt mild hybrid gasoline unit with powers of 100 and 136 horsepower; in addition to a 113 horsepower electric unit with an announced autonomy of around 400 km. At the wheel, we are faced with an efficient and pleasant SUV to drive, offering a very good comfort/handling compromise.

In the end, this Frontera is much more attractive than the bland Crossland it replaces. It offers an interior that is both intelligent (spacious and practical) and pleasant to live in.

It should arrive in Morocco in the first half of 2025 with prices not yet defined; We know, however, that it is already in dealerships in Europe from 24,500 €euro!
