“What the hell would you do…”: An anti-motorway joke by Yann Marguet makes a Schaffhausen jump

Yann Marguet is committed in his own way against the motorway projects put to the vote on November 24. And that did not please an elected official from Schaffhausen, reports the “Blick”.

“Anyway, what the hell would you do in Schaffhausen?”: this is the phrase chosen by Yann Marguet to display, in an Instagram publication, his opposition to the motorway extension, the subject of the votes on November 24 . We clearly recognize the touch of the comedian who made the heyday of “Couleur 3” with his “Nettles” and who is now a columnist for “Quotidien” on TMC, as well as on the antenna of “ Inter.”

Even if the valve did not take the highway, it still reached Schaffhausen… where Urs Wohlgemuth, president of the local PLR, did not at all taste the Vaudois’ humor, can we read in the “Blick”.

The elected official therefore responded on Instagram, with a long post. “You may know Yann Marguet, the famous Vaudois comedian. Even if his humor is appreciated, I find it inappropriate to make fun of an entire region,” he laments. He added: “Unfortunately, it seems to have been common for years in some circles of the urban left to mock people living outside urban centers rather than seriously understanding their concerns.”

Invite rather than insult

Contacted by our colleagues, Yann Marguet tempers: his words “were more intended to be a joke testifying to his commitment” rather than “a targeted villainy intended to create a diplomatic incident with Schaffhausen”.

The comedian also responds to Urs Wohlgemuth’s dig at the urban left, explaining that he grew up in Sainte- and that, in fact, he only makes fun of rurality “with great affection”.

But the elected PLR does not sink into invective. On the contrary, he goes so far as to invite the comedian to his land, in the very north of the country: “Hence my proposal, if you do not yet know our beautiful region: I cordially invite you to Schaffhausen to admire, among other things , the beauty of the Rhine Falls and tasting our wine ???? – whether by train or by car.

An invitation that Yann Marguet accepts with pleasure in “Blick”, offering in exchange to Urs Wohlgemuth “if he is up for it of course, a discussion on the benefits of self-deprecation”.

Beyond their deep disagreement on the motorway question, the elected official and the comedian will perhaps end up sympathizing. We will know, if anything, what Yann Marguet will do to Schaffouse.
