The Italian brand Alfa Romeo has confirmed this, the Alfa Romeo Junior Q4, four-wheel drive version of the new compact SUV, will be available from 2025. Based on the CMP platform, this variant will have the mission of offering performance and technology worthy of Alfa Romeo’s sporting heritage. Here’s everything we know so far.
A more versatile hybrid SUV
Currently, the Alfa Romeo Junior is offered in two engines : a 136 hp hybrid thermal engine and two electric versions of 156 hp or 280 hp, but only in traction. The Q4 version will change the situation by offering all-wheel drive, paving the way for a possible even more dynamic driving experience.
This configuration is not really unknown since it will be inspired by the Jeep Avenger 4xe, which uses a hybrid engine combining a 1.2 liter turbocharged combustion engine (136 hp) and two 21 kW electric motors placed on each axle. This technology ensures efficient all-wheel drive on the Jeep, while allowing 100% electric driving at low speedsideal for reducing consumption and emissions in urban areas.
What performance for the Alfa Romeo?
The Jeep Avenger 4xe reaches a cumulative power of 136 hp, a top speed of 194 km/h and 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. However, this is still less than the 136 hp Alfa Romeo Ibrida, which has a top speed of 206 km/h and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 8.9 seconds. If the Alfa Romeo Junior Q4 uses a similar setup, it is possible that it will be adjusted to meet Alfa Romeo’s sporty DNA. Engineers could thus optimize the use of electric motors not only to improve traction, but also to offer more dynamic acceleration and increased driving pleasure.
At qwhat price?
In terms of pricing, the Jeep Avenger 4xe starts from €32,750which gives a clear indication for the positioning of the Alfa Romeo Junior Q4. With a current price of €29,500 for the 136 hp hybrid version, the Q4 version should at least reach the same price as the Jeep, or even exceed it, to reflect the more premium positioning. The Junior Q4 will have the advantage of being able to drive at low speed all-electric, which we hope will offer better performance and therefore increased driving pleasure.
