Pornographic videos deleted too late: Google sentenced by a court to… 2000 euros fine

According to the judgment, Google did not respond quickly enough to the request to remove the videos, a reaction time which contravenes the obligations defined by the Digital Services Act (DSA), European legislation concerning the liability of digital services.

A threat looms over Google: “Splitting Chrome and Android would destroy them and many other things”

Although the amount of the fine is symbolic in view of Google’s financial resources, this decision still sends a signal about the need for responsiveness from technology giants in situations where privacy is at stake. The problem should be taken all the more seriously because generally, once the video is posted online, it is difficult to go back. Indeed, each withdrawal is followed by the rapid appearance of copies, a digital scourge which makes the definitive deletion of this content even more complicated.

For information, the French Bukkake case itself is still under investigation and concerns 17 individuals accused of producing and distributing illicit videos between 2013 and 2019. Around forty victims are seeking compensation.
