The digital HR prize surfs on Artificial Intelligence

For this fifth edition, eight finalists presented their project to the audience in five minutes, with two categories, i.e. more or less than 400 collaborators.

AI to support HR and employees

No more suspense: The business prize was awarded to Mantu Group, 10,000 employees including around 400 in Switzerland, which decided to “surf” the wave of artificial intelligence (AI). Emmanuelle Baillet, team manager and director of AI, and Claire Raynaud, deputy head of human resources, continued the metaphor by presenting their project with a surfboard under her arm and in a wetsuit.

Concretely, at the launch of ChatGPT, the strategy and business services consulting company, whose head office is in Geneva, decided to finance the use of its premium version for its employees, to establish training and to provide a catalog of “prompts” (a phrase guiding an AI model), among others. Today, the company is developing its own “HR ChatBot”, trained to answer basic questions from employees. For example? What are the terms of leave, where to find salary slips, what procedure for maternity leave, etc. “It’s a tool that strengthens employee autonomy and allows human resources to focus on complex issues,” explains Emmanuelle Baillet. However, it is not yet fully active, with tests to ensure its quality being underway.

A central critical mind

Another AI tool, already deployed, makes it possible to analyze the mass of CVs received and match skills with open positions, or even internal profiles with projects. But there is no question of replacement, it is then the recruiter who takes control again to do his job, reassures the professionals on the digital HR prize stage. “This first “matching” also saves time to take more during the interview, for example,” confides Claire Raynaud after the ceremony. An AI charter has also been developed “to ensure that we do not surf this wave haphazardly” as well as training around possible induced biases and on the importance of not using AI without critical thinking.

An approach that appealed: “Mantu really delved into the AI subject and opened the way, but in a global approach where critical thinking is central,” welcomes Xavier Perrin, president of the jury and director of Human Resources at Azqore.

A completely different project received the PME prize: EMS Clos Brochet, whose small HR team has developed an innovative process for welcoming new employees and created an application as an internal communication tool. With the basic idea: “Take care of those who take care”. The public rewarded Riviera Chablais Hospital with a “favorite” prize for its new centralized HR portal, presented with humor. Projects that reflect the growing challenges of attractiveness and efficiency of organizations.
