Traveling the St. Lawrence plain, the Appalachians, meeting people who are there to offer you services that meet your expectations, this is what the Centre-du-Québec region offers you for quad biking in winter.
“For the winter, we have a large playground with our 1,275 kilometers of quad trails. The winter season is truly the time when we have the most to offer,” explains the promotion and marketing coordinator of Tourisme Centre-Du-Québec, Marie-Ève Lambert.
“It is easier for us to create a network of trails in winter because we travel 99.9% on private land. In summer, farmers want to use their fields to be able to cultivate. We are grateful to these landowners who let us pass through their fields and woodlands. This is essential for us if we want to bring the experience of quad biking to our region,” she continued.
Where to sleep?
We suggest starting points in the territory which extends from Drummondville, in the west, to Lyster, in the east.
“All the necessary services for quad riders are there. We have specific starting points that we suggest. For example, in the Villeroy sector, people can start from the Bédard garage. There is ample, easily accessible parking for vehicles with trailers. From there, people can discover three interesting circuits,” says Ms. Lambert.
“Another interesting starting point is the Domaine du lac Louise. Very often, quad riders go there to eat and meet other quad riders. There is also the Belle Québécoise restaurant, near Daveluyville. Quad riders really have a choice. Just visit our website (www.tourismecentreduquebec.com),” she concludes.
When it comes to accommodation, there is no shortage of choice.
“Several hotels and hostels welcome quad riders. We have a special one in Appalachia, Le Sainte-Hélène, Nordic inn and spa. There is also the Manoir du lac Williams, one of the most popular with quad riders. They go there to have a meal or even spend a weekend, go quad biking around and come back to sleep at the manor. »
“For people who prefer to be closer to the city, in Victoriaville, there are the Le Victorin and Le Quality Inn & Suites hotels. They are directly across from the quad trails. Quad riders can leave directly from their hotel for a hike. On the banks of the river, there is the Auberge Godefroy, from where enthusiasts can leave for a tour of the region. »
The importance of clubs
The region’s clubs are very important in offering quad biking in winter.
“Several shelters from our quad clubs are always accessible to make a quick stop and meet the club gang. Every morning, club volunteers make sure that there are not too many snow drifts on the trails. We thank them for all the work they do to ensure that our network of 1,275 kilometers of trails is impeccable. We really have both sides of the coin in our region,” explains the specialist.
“We have trails in the St. Lawrence plain which often cross farmers’ fields. On the other side, we have trails in the Appalachians that go through maple groves, in the mountains. They also provide access to very impressive viewpoints. »
You can obtain a map of the region by ordering it on the Tourisme Centre-du-Québec website. On the site, you will also find the different circuits. In addition, they are presented on the iQuad application, from the FQCQ. You can also call 819 364-7177. All trails are accessible for side-by-side vehicles.
