This is as part of the renovation and expansion project of the small inland shipping port of Ouchy in Lausanne.

This renovation project aims to modernize port infrastructure, strengthen security and increase reception capacity while respecting the environment and promoting nautical heritage. The port capacity which will, for example, be increased by around 30 moorings, thus reducing the waiting time for Lausanne residents wishing to obtain a berth for their boat.

The public inquiry must last 30 days

The public inquiry for the 30-day project will begin on November 1, 2024. The new facilities will increase port capacity from around thirty moorings to 660 places and
to consequently reduce the waiting time for Lausanne residents wishing to obtain a space for their boat.

Reaction of the municipal councilor in charge of the economy

For Pierre-Antoine Hildbrand, municipal councilor in charge of the economy: “The Port of Ouchy is a major asset for the attractiveness and tourism of Lausanne. This renovation is part of the City’s relationship with the lake, like other interventions on the banks: refreshments, swimming areas and lakeside developments.

A modernized and secure port

The new port facilities include the replacement and reorganization of the current floating booms (pre-stressed reinforced concrete) with floating pontoons (catways), thus optimizing boat mooring conditions. The project also provides for the improvement of water and electricity supply systems, guaranteeing increased comfort for users. In addition, the equipment in the technical area on land will be completely renewed.

At the same time, a specific arrangement to facilitate the boarding of people with disabilities on board pleasure boats will be
achieved, making the port more accessible to everyone. Safety remains a priority: the number and position of rigging and rest buoys have been
determined to meet navigation conditions regardless of the weather. In addition, the mooring places will only be accessible via an access gate. The project benefited from the expertise of Jérôme Clerc, a high-level sailor and skipper of Realteam, the Lausanne sailing team.
