This famous coffee brand placed in receivership is looking for a buyer

This famous French coffee brand, appreciated by all for the unique taste of its products, has been placed in receivership by the Commercial Court. An action which thus allows the company to look for a buyer to “preserve its assets.”

Founded in 1851, Cafés Legal is a family business which, with a market share of nearly 10% in roasted and packaged coffee volume, quickly became the leading independent French producer. If the brand has enjoyed success for a long time, particularly in the 1990s, it now finds itself in a financial situation that is complicated to say the least. A few weeks before this upheaval, the management of the famous coffee brand had decided to refer the matter to the Paris Commercial Court to “declare insolvency”, thus paving the way for a new owner “for the sake of protecting Cafés Légal, and in order to preserve its assets.”

The legal recovery of Cafés Legal worries their hundreds of employees

Cafés Legal, which employs around a hundred employees on its site in Le Havre, then explained in a press release that “This temporary protection measure has the sole purpose of resolving the company’s debt and thus perpetuating its activity and its jobs.”

According to Blue, activity will be maintained for the 105 employees of the factory, based in the Le Havre district of Bléville, during the legal recovery procedure opened by the Paris Commercial Court.

A brand bought by a powerful French investment fund
