Negotiations at an impasse: employees of the Amazon warehouse in step up to the plate

The impasse in negotiations between the union at the DXT4 warehouse in and Amazon has pushed employees to toughen their tone, to the point of initiating pressure tactics to make themselves heard.

After three months of negotiations without notable progress, no agreement clause has been concluded, according to the union set up in the spring which accuses the employer of refusing the texts submitted to it.

Amazon employees in Laval say they are outraged at not having received the annual wage increases of $1.50 per hour granted to other employees of other warehouses in the Montreal region.

“It’s been three months since the negotiations started and nothing has changed. At the negotiating table, we are essentially told that Amazon does not want any change,” denounced Félix Trudeau, president of the Amazon Laval–CSN Workers’ Union.

To the deaf ear of the employer, the union stepped up to use pressure tactics with a strong mandate from union members, while the CSN launched legal recourse.

“It is clear that Amazon seeks to penalize workers for having exercised their right to unionize,” said the president of the CSN, Caroline Senneville, who insists on the payment of annual increases without waiting for the outcome. negotiations.

“Notices have been sent, legal actions have been taken, but despite this, Amazon persists in wanting to punish DXT4 employees and discourage unionization in its other warehouses,” she added.
