Money invested in baby products: they want to help mothers after a new TikTok trend

Women in the United States and the United Kingdom have decided to place money and gifts on shelves of grocery stores and pharmacies where baby products are located to help mothers in financial difficulty.

Baby food, diaper boxes, moisturizers: in many countries around the world, it is possible to see cash among some of these products.

This trend started on TikTok, where user Danesha Gonzalez shared a video showing a handbag between children’s items. She interpreted it as saying that the mother had to give up the handbag since she couldn’t afford it financially.

“She deserved this purse,” she wrote in the video which has been viewed more than 23 million times.

“There were times when I had nothing or times where I had to give up things so my son could have things,” Ms. Gonzalez told NBC News. She therefore decided to film the handbag to raise awareness among Internet users of this reality experienced by many parents.

Another content creator, Cecily Bauchmann, got the ball rolling by purchasing a $100 gift card for the retail company Target. She hid it under a box of diapers.

Other American and British women have since filmed themselves on the TikTok app placing money on tablets in support of these women.
