DEXTERITY – A former customs officer was found guilty this Tuesday in Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) of having stolen cash during his checks at Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport thanks to the latex glove he was wearing.

Thanks to the latex glove used for the searches, the agent managed to make some of the money he found disappear.

The 34-year-old man appeared in court for stealing four 500-euro notes and also for offering a tax refund on a luxury watch purchased by a traveler. In total, the accused admitted to up to “ten to fifteen thefts” during his police custody, the prosecution said, referring to the acts carried out “with a certain dexterity”.

Suspended sentence

Faced with the civil servant’s standard of living, the many luxury products discovered at his home and the almost total absence of payments for daily expenses, the thirty-year-old explained that he frequented many women and received gifts. “All this money made me sick,” he confided at the hearing.
