An initiative for an external swimming pool in ONEX

In Onex (GE), the socialists launched a municipal initiative to create an outdoor swimming pool. The party, which assesses the realization of such an infrastructure at around 15 to 18 million francs, has until May 21 to bring together the necessary 676 signatures.

There are many outdoor swimming pools in neighboring municipalities, in Lancy and Lignon in Vernier (GE), but they are not enough to meet the demand, Romain Gauthier Socialist Municipal Socialist. Candidate for the municipal elections, the elected official is convinced that such a swimming pool would improve the quality of life of the inhabitants.

The municipality of Onex is currently having an indoor swimming pool of 25 meters and a small shallow pool, as well as an external paddling pool with on Exemplac. The PS has identified several sites likely to accommodate a new infrastructure. It counts on the harvesting of signatures to discuss it with the population.

Officially launched Tuesday, this initiative requests the Administrative Council to study the creation of an outdoor swimming pool accessible to all, on the municipal territory. According to the PS, a new swimming pool would help to energize the local economy while preserving the environment by integrating in particular sustainable technologies.
