A 23-year-old Geneva resident, caught on the motorway in 2022 at 153 km/h on an axis limited to 80 km/h, had his sentence reduced, reports «20 minutes». Guilty of driving (speed at least 60 km/h above the limit), he received a 12-month suspended prison sentence in April 2023.

A few months later, the road traffic law (LCR) was revised and has since allowed for a relaxation of penalties for certain drivers. The Genevan was thus able to obtain a suspended sentence of 180 days fine in November of the same year.

The Geneva Public Prosecutor’s Office challenged this sanction before the Federal Court (TF), which rejected this appeal.
