In September 2023, Novo Nordisk dethroned LVMH in first place in European market capitalization. Nearly a year and a half later, the French luxury giant (valued at 345 billion euros), regained its place, more thanks to a decline in Novo Nordisk (with a valuation of 342 billion euros). euros) than a surge in its own title. Having become the darling of investors for its anti-diabetic drugs which have also proven effective in the treatment of obesity, the Danish pharmaceutical laboratory has seen its stock fall by more than 40% since its historic peak in June.

Despite the success of its treatments, Novo Nordisk has suffered several disappointments in recent months. On Friday, its share price fell 4.3% following an announcement from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Ozempic and Wegovy, Novo Nordisk’s drugs against diabetes and obesity, have been included on the list of 15 treatments affected by the second round of the drug price negotiation program in the United States.
