Petra Vlhova must withdraw from the world championships in Saalbach.
The Olympic slalom champion and former giant world champion will not recover in time after tearing her cruciate ligaments.
Vlhova thus lost the battle against time, as her coach Mauro Pini explained in a press release published by the Slovakian’s management. ‘The rehabilitation of his knee is finally going in the right direction,’ said the Ticino resident, ‘but the setbacks in December and January are preventing him from participating in the World Championships.’
Petra Vlhova now already has her sights set on the Olympic Games which will take place in a year’s time in Cortina d’Ampezzo. The overall winner of the 2021 World Cup had torn her cruciate and internal ligaments exactly a year ago during her home race in Jasna.
