Several dead cats
During the weeks preceding the police intervention, those in charge of the “Aux Amis des Animals” shelter, which is located right next to the former clandestine laboratory, in any case found several dead animals. “At the shelter, outside we have a special shelter for stray cats where they can find food and water“, testifies Christopher Dheulin, manager of the shelter. “Shortly before the discovery of the laboratory, we found no less than five dead cats near this shelter. At the time, we did not find the reason for these deaths. In hindsight, it is likely that they hung out in the famous hangar where the laboratory was located. We found five but it is likely that others did not make it to the shelter. Since the police intervention, we have no longer observed any deaths, which is a good sign..”
The police intervention took place last October. “Many trucks passed our shelter. They certainly took on a lot of equipment given the numerous round trips made by the trucks. This situation worries us as much as it actually reassures us. On the one hand, we are reassured because the police did their job well but on the other hand, we are worried by the lack of communication around this case. What products were stored? What risk for our animals?“
