Air Arabia Maroc, leader in low-cost air travel, inaugurated its new direct air link linking Rabat and Oujda this Thursday, January 9. Supported by the Oriental Region, this connection represents a new step aimed at improving air connectivity between Moroccan regions.
In a festive atmosphere, Oujda Angad airport welcomed the plane coming from Rabat-Salé international airport. The event was marked by a performance by a “Reggada” group, in the presence of Khatib El Hebil, the Wali of the Oriental Region, Mohamed Bouarourou, President of the Oriental Regional Council, and Laila Mechbal , General Director of Air Arabia Maroc.
The plane, carrying more than 100 passengers, was welcomed with the traditional water jet, symbolizing the importance of this air link in strengthening economic and social ties between the two regions.
This new connection facilitates the movement of travelers, whether businessmen or tourists, and strengthens economic and cultural links between Rabat, administrative capital and tourist destination, and Oujda, known for the surrounding natural resources and its urban heritage.
On this occasion, Laila Mechbal, General Director of Air Arabia Maroc, expressed her joy for this new air link, declaring to Yabiladi that “the new link will offer three weekly flights operated by Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 174 seats . We hope that this connection will contribute to the development of tourism in the Oriental region and will facilitate the movement of travelers between the two cities in less than 45 minutes.
For his part, Mohamed Bouarourou stressed that “these flights are part of a partnership agreement signed between the Oriental Regional Council and Air Arabia”. Bouarourou added that “the Regional Council has allocated more than 24 million dirhams to support this agreement, which includes three flights between Oujda and Rabat, in addition to two flights between Nador Al Aroui airport and Rabat. We are convinced that this step will create a new dynamic in the Oriental Region and will have a positive impact at all levels, particularly economic and tourist.
The new flight schedules have been scheduled for Tuesdays (from Oujda to Rabat at 07:00, arrival at 08:05, and from Rabat to Oujda at 08:45, arrival at 09:50), Thursdays (from Oujda to Rabat at 4:05 p.m., arrival at 5:10 p.m., and from Rabat to Oujda at 2:15 p.m., arrival at 3:20 p.m.), and Sundays (from Oujda to Rabat at 2:25 p.m., arrival at 3:30 p.m., and from Rabat to Oujda at 12:40 p.m., arrival at 1:50 p.m.).
To mark the launch of this connection, ticket prices start from 350 dirhams, on the company’s website, the mobile application, or through authorized agents.
