At Mercedes we abandon the letters EQ which differentiated the electric models thermal models. So the new generation of the Mercedes EQC will be called Mercedes Glc EV. It may be a detail, but it hides a profound change for the brand’s future electric models. Because in addition to this name change, the German manufacturer should use a more efficient platform.
There are many new platforms at Mercedes. We know the MMA which will be used for the new Mercedes CLA, but also for the future GLB EV, we are less familiar with the VAN.EA which will be used for electric utility vehicles or the AMG.EA which is reserved for sports models from AMG. An MB.EA Large was also planned for the most high-end models including the new generations of EQE and EQS. But Mercedes dropped it recently, because sales forecasts for these high-end electric cars were such that profitability was not possible. There remains the MB.EA which will be used in the future Mercedes C-Class, but what could this Mercedes GLC EV have recovered.

Thus equipped, this model will display higher performance than that of the old Mercedes EQC which has disappeared from the Mercedes catalog. Thanks to the use of high capacity batteries (more than 100 kW), this model should have a decent range. In its most efficient versions (AMG) it should have a hard time with the Porsche Macan Electric and new Audi Q6 e-tron.
Will it benefit from MBUX Superscreen?
Regarding its interior, it should be profoundly redesigned and could adopt new screens like the triple screen (MBUX Superscreen) of the Mercedes CLA concept car which runs the entire length of the dashboard. Mercedes will also take care of the comfort of the occupants of its model with enveloping seats, controlled suspension and modified running gear.
